O Simple Present expressa ações habituais, atividades rotineiras e permanentes.
Na forma afirmativa, quando o verbo estiver na terceira pessoa do singular (he, she,it), ele poderá receber -s, -es ou -ies.
She likes to read novels.
She watches TV every night. (acrescenta-se - es após ch, sh, s, ss, x, z e o).
She studies Spanish and English. (acrescenta-se -ies quando o verbo termina em -y precedido de consoante, substituindo-se -y por -i)
Na forma negativa, usam-se os verbos auxiliares do e does (he, she, it), e o verbo principal volta à forma do infinitivo:
She doesn't like to read novels.
Na forma interrogativa, o uso de do/does também faz com que o verbo principal volte à forma do infinitivo:
Does she like to read novels?
